What Happens If My Booking Gets Cancelled Or If I Have To Cancel a Booking?

January 20, 2024 in About Hiring Out and How it works

If you’re considering hiring out your motorhome on Goboony, you may be wondering what happens in case you or a traveller cancels a booking. Let’s break it down for you.

How does the cancellation policy work?

If you list your motorhome for hire on Goboony, you have the ability to set cancellation conditions for your bookings. When you create your listing on our platform, you can choose from two cancellation policy levels: moderate or flexible. These levels outline the details for cancellations and can be found in the terms and conditions

What happens if a traveller cancels a booking?

If a traveller cancels a confirmed booking, the level of cancellation conditions you have set applies and will come into effect. If cancellation fees apply, the traveller is responsible for paying these.

What happens if I need to cancel a booking?

If you need to cancel a confirmed booking, you may be responsible for paying a cancellation fee. Whether this applies depends on the reason for cancelling. If the reason falls under Force Majeure, which refers to unavoidable circumstances, no cancellation fees will apply.

However, if the cancellation is avoidable, such as due to a double booking or vehicle defects that could have been prevented, cancellation fees do apply. Goboony will make efforts to find a replacement vehicle for the traveller at a similar price, but any excess costs exceeding the original booking may be charged to you, up to a maximum of £500.

What if I have to cancel a booking due to an unforeseen problem with my vehicle?

If you have to cancel a booking due to an unforeseen problem with your vehicle shortly before a booking, it is important to notify both Goboony and the traveller immediately. This way the traveller is informed about potential changes to their holiday plans and Goboony can start working on finding a replacement vehicle. Depending on whether the issue with your vehicle is considered Force Majeure, you may or may not be responsible for cancellation fees.

What if I have to cancel a booking because my vehicle was damaged during the previous booking?

If you have to cancel a booking because your motorhome was damaged during the previous booking, it is important to notify both Goboony and the traveller immediately. This way the traveller is informed about potential changes to their holiday plans and Goboony can start working on finding a replacement vehicle. Cancellations due to damage that has occurred during the previous booking are considered Force Majeure if the damage cannot be repaired in time, providing that supporting documents are presented, which means cancellation fees won’t apply.
