June 9, 2023 in Destinations, Campsites, Tips for Travellers & United Kingdom

When it comes to motorhome holidays, many of us are seeking itineraries that offer expansive and glorious views, rich history and a feeling of being off the tourist path. The Lincolnshire Wolds has all this and much more. We’ve assembled a list of the best motorhome campsites in and near the Lincolnshire Wolds to make your trip complete. Let’s take a look at our 7 favourites.

The Lincolnshire Wolds AONB

Most of the Lincolnshire Wolds was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1973 as a result of local campaigning. When you’re exploring the ancient woodlands and cruising over seemingly endless rolling hills, you’ll be glad of their efforts. This is an area where history comes alive, where you can discover the remnants of lost villages and medieval settlements, and witness the Viking influence that is still evident in the place names.

Nature enthusiasts will be in awe of the Wolds' diverse ecosystem. Follow the gentle slopes, meander along the chalk streams, and try to catch a glimpse of slinking otters and shy water voles in their natural habitat. This is a part of the world to explore at your own pace, and every season brings its own magic. Choose from a wealth of hikes and cycling trails through enchanting woodlands, glacial valleys and ancient burial grounds and finish it all off with a warm welcome at a local pub, cafe or restaurant.

Of course, every great road trip needs good value, and comfortable accommodation with great facilities. On to the best campsites in the Lincolnshire Wolds, including some family-friendly and adult-oriented sites.

1. Wolds View Country Park

Wolds View Country Park is a picturesque motorhome campsite nestled within four acres of the scenic Lincolnshire Wolds, just a mile away from Caistor town centre. Within a 10-minute walk from the park, visitors can access the Viking Way, an ancient trackway that stretches from the Humber Bridge to Oakham in Rutland. If the coast beckons, choose from several charming seaside towns within a 20-minute drive away.

Wold's View provides spacious pitches on either grass or hard standing, each equipped with a 16 AMP electric hook-up point. The site's shop offers everyday essentials such as groceries and Calor gas and the modern facilities include excellent washrooms with toasty under-floor heating, laundry, rentable fridges, a cafe and full wheelchair accessibility.
