Another year is about to bite the dust, which means it’s time for the great Goboony Wrapped 2023! It’s been a very exciting year for Goboony, as well as for all travellers and motorhome owners who use our platform. We love that we’re able to play a part in creating an ever-growing campervan community, and are delighted to share some of the numbers that excite us most.
The #1 motorhome-sharing platform in Europe
Let's kick off with a little recap of the most exciting news of all: we officially announced our merger with sister platform Yescapa! Together we’re now the number 1 motorhome-sharing platform in Europe, with over 30,000 motorhomes available for hire in 10 countries, now including Spain, Portugal, Switzerland and Austria! As we’re starting to join forces, a greater team will be working very hard to provide the best possible service to anyone who uses our platform(s).
Speaking of our team…
We have a couple of fun facts to share about the dedicated group of people who work very hard to make every single Goboony road trip possible.
Goboony is a fully remote company, which means that our employees work from all around Europe. Our team is spread across 11 countries with a couple of digital nomads too! Together we are made up of 13 nationalities and speak 17 languages. It’s safe to say we all have a healthy addiction to motorhome travel too, as we took as many as 41 road trips ourselves. We’ll not only be striving to Share the Freedom with the Goboony community but with the next generation as well, as we welcomed 4 boonie babies into the world.
Additionally, 26 new faces joined our screens in 2023. Do we only see each other digitally, you may wonder? Not if we can do anything about it! Our online meetings never lack atmosphere or comradery, and plenty of real-life meetups are organised throughout the year. The event of 2023 has to be when we took the whole company to the South of France for our annual camping trip. We’re still reminiscing.

Along for the ride in 2023
Together, we shared the freedom of motorhome travel with a community of thousands of road trip enthusiasts. This year, our platform facilitated 130,000 travellers, who together embarked on 22,485,636 miles of road trips and spent a total of 297,281 days on the road, including one trip that lasted a whopping 185 days (!)
We pride ourselves on having an enormous fleet of motorhomes in all shapes and sizes on our platform. There’s a vehicle for everyone, whether you’re travelling alone, with your partner, family, friends or your pet. As it turns out, the latter is a favourite travel companion in particular. When searching for a motorhome, ‘pet-friendly’ was the most used filter in 2023. Furthermore, out of all travel parties, 45% were couples, 42% were families, 6% were friends and 7% were others.
Unsurprisingly, summer was the favourite season to go on holiday, as the most popular time to travel was the last week of July. As for the size of the travel party, the most booked motorhome type was a 4-berth, with room to sleep four people. The favourite type of campervan hasn’t changed since 2022, the Volkswagen Transporter is still the most popular campervan model and probably will be for years to come.

Where else did the road take us?
Many, many places, but interestingly enough 96% of travellers stayed within the UK. This means that although lots of our motorhomes are taken abroad as well, the staycation was still a favourite. And understandably so, with so much beauty on our doorstep just waiting to be explored. Within the UK, Scotland was by far the most popular destination and most road trips started in Edinburgh.

How could we possibly conclude Goboony Wrapped 2023 without sharing some stats about Behind the Wheel! We launched season 2 of our van life podcast and are over the moon that we also hit our 5,000th listen.
