August 11, 2023 in Destinations, Campsites, Tips for Travellers, Wales & United Kingdom

If you’re looking for the best campsites in North Wales, you’ll likely find them tucked away on the Isle of Anglesey. This island is beloved by motorhome travellers and is the perfect destination for bank holidays, weekends away or longer trips. It’s less weather-dependent than other areas of the UK, as there is simply always something to do in Anglesey

While in Anglesey, you can spot endangered Red Squirrels, climb the majestic Holyhead Mountain and visit the village that proudly hosts the longest name in Europe. In case you’re curious, that’s Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, but locals shorten it to Llanfairpwll.

To prepare for your trip, let’s take a look at the best Anglesey campsites to pitch your motorhome and spend the night.

1. Tyddyn Isaf Camping and Caravan Park

Overlooking the stunning Lligwy Bay, you’ll find the family-run campsite of Tyddyn Isaf Camping and Caravan Park. This motorhome site has a direct footpath leading to the bay, ensuring that you can be at the beach within minutes. As soon as you’ve parked your motorhome, you can grab your dogeared paperback, sling a towel over your shoulder, and depart for the sandy beach.

This motorhome site is ideal for those travelling with little ones, as there is a playground on-site as well as large open spaces that your pup would enjoy. Additionally, you’ll find a small restaurant and shop, ensuring that you only have to leave if you really, really want to.

One of our favourite aspects of Tyddyn Isaf Camping and Caravan Park is how accessible the site is. The campsite owners ensure that the campsite is reachable for all, and that everyone can enjoy the perfect motorhome holiday.

5. Mulberry’s Farm

This campsite prides itself on offering the ‘more traditional camping experience’, and it’s perfect for travellers looking to slow down during their holiday. Mulberry’s Farm is located in a shallow valley and is surrounded by nature. It takes fewer bookings to ensure that each pitch is spacious and has privacy from other campers. Vehicles are parked on hardstanding pitches, but each has a private section of grass for the awning and camping furniture. Each pitch also comes with a fire pit and picnic table.

This is another adults-only campsite in Anglesey and allows pets. Mulberry’s Farm focuses on sustainability, and you might spot some local wildlife while staying here, including pheasants, foxes, buzzards and migrating geese. So be sure to pack away your food at all times!

Speaking of food, take your breakfasts to the next level while staying here, and order a Bara Brith, a Welsh tea loaf. You can also request farm-fresh eggs for the perfect scramble.

6. Presaddfed - Druids' Rest

This family-friendly campsite is situated right beside an ancient Neolithic monument. Presaddfed - Druids' Rest used to be a cricket pitch, which is why you’ll enjoy the flattest camping pitches that you’ve ever seen. Despite being so close to the monument, it’s a very calm campsite, with no road noise or disturbances.

The owners take an interest in everyone visiting their site and are available for anything you’ll need. The campsite is well maintained and never seems to run out of hot water — a relief for those of us travelling outside of summer!

And don’t worry, the beach is only fifteen minutes away, so you could even go and catch the sunrise one morning during your stay.
