I would like to introduce you to Doris our beloved 1979 late bay VW camper. She has a fully reconditioned 1600 engine with a few modifications to improve the drive and to give more power up hills. It is always such a beautiful experience to go on an adventure with Doris, she has such a character with her full pop up top for extra headroom and brand new colour coded interior. I would like to introduce you to Doris our beloved 1979 late bay VW camper. She has a fully reconditioned 1600 engine with a few modifications to improve the drive and to give more power up hills. It is always such a beautiful experience to go on an adventure with Doris, she has such a character with her full pop up top for extra headroom and brand new colour coded interior. She has a rock and roll bed, front swivel seats so four people can sit facing eachother around the table, Blue tooth, USB stereo and speakers for entertainment. Also included is a fridge, an LED wine rack, twin hobs with gas supplied, electric water pump with sink. Fire extinguisher, first aid kit and all utensils provided. The motorhome insurance is sold separately by Dayinsure. 3 Weeks before your holiday starts you will have to provide your details to Dayinsure and pay for the policy. Costs are £25 per day for the first 5 days and thereafter £20 per day. You also have the option to buy breakdown services.

Vans great , owner lovely , really helpful. Would defo recommend and use again
My Wife and I have just come back from a brilliant weekend away in Doris. Everything worked as expected and the van was clean and tidy when we collected her from Abby. The van was comfortable to sleep in with the modern rock and roll bed and the compact hob and sink unit was perfect for campsite cooking. Doris is great fun to drive and took in the steep hills around the Forest of Dean and the streets of Gloucester with ease. This is a classic vehicle so its back to basics which makes it a great driving experience. Abby gave us a detailed handover and answered our queries quickly even while we were away. I would recommend Doris to anyone looking for a classic VW camper getaway.

We booked this camper for a 10 day tour of the South West. Unfortunately, we experienced multiple problems.
The van broke down on the first day and we lost two days of our holiday while waiting for a repair. The fridge also didn't work properly which meant our food went mouldy.
This is a vintage camper so the experience is very different from driving a modern vehicle. For example, we wished we had known in advance that it can only drive at 55mph, can only go for 2hrs before needing a break to cool down, and it guzzles petrol. It also doesn't have very responsive brakes, the steering is much more challenging (no power steering), and it doesn't have standard modern safety features, such a head rests, air bags or a crumple zone.

We hired Doris out for our parents/In laws, all I can say is she is a beautiful van. My husband loved driving her and said It put a smile on his face every time he pulled away. The parents enjoyed their little break in her also they said it was a dream come true in an amazing van. Abby is also a lovely person and answers all questions and is very informative before handing over Doris. Would highly recommend and will hopefully hire her again in the future.

Doris is a beautiful van. My daughter and I had a wonderful time taking her out to the Cotswolds. She drives surprisingly well.
Abby was very helpful and friendly, giving us a thorough tour of Doris and taking us for a test drive. I would highly recommend both!

We had always wanted to experience life on the open road in a VW Camper Van and we could not have asked more from Doris or from Abby.
We were given a thorough talk and test drive covering everything we needed to know and Abby also added some nice touches in the van which we would not have considered.
Doris was a pleasure to drive and it is without doubt the best driving experience of my life.
Abby did all she could do to help us both when we arrived, throughout and when we brought it back.
We couldn't recommend Doris and Abby more.

Doris is a Lovely bay camper - very solid and reliable with a beautiful paint scheme and she drew so many admirers! Abby was a pleasure to deal with and ‘went the extra mile’ to explain everything to make our trip really smooth and pleasurable! Doris was very well equipped also. If you love this type of Vee dub then don’t hesitate to book with Abby.....
