5 Fantastic Road Trip Books

After a day of driving, or swimming, or walking, or shopping, or any combination of activites, you’ll be exhausted. Nobody would blame you for wanting to sit in a chair, or by a fire, and crack open a good book. Having alright compiled a list of music for you, we now have a list of five books, in no particular order, that we’d highly recommend. We’d also love to know what books you would recommend. Summer is right around the corner, and we always need a reason to visit the bookstore. 

 

Jack Kerouc - On The Road

The story of Will Paradise and Dean Moriarty traveling through the United States. Packed with music, cars, friendship, love, wine and poetry. Although be warned, after reading this, severe wanderlust may incur.

John Krakauer - Into The Wild

This book follows Chris McCandless. He is a graduate student who decides to leave it all behind him, and withdraw into the wilderness. You may have seen the film, but we really liked the booked. Being a true story, we believe it sometimes may give the book more power. In this instance, we certainly think it’s the case.

Cheryl Strayed - Wild

Again, this book has recently been made into film. However, we’d also again really advise reading the paper version! A 26-year-old Cheryl has had a lot of setbacks, and determindely decides to walk the Pacific Trail untrained, as part of a journey of self-discovery. A walk of 4000 kilometers, or 2,700 miles.

Paulo Coelho - The Alchemist

It might not have any motorhomes, trains or planes, but it shows beautifully what can happen during a trip. A sheep shepherd from Santiago has but one wish: to see al the corners of the world. By chance (or not?) he befriends an Egyptian alchemist who teaches him not only of the world, but live.

Willaim Sutcliffe - Are You Experienced? 

A book we found hilarious, about Liza and Dave who journey around India. For Liz, it’s about spirituality - the find of herself. For Dave? Well, it’s about Liz. He’s in love with her. He travels with Liz, but soon finds India has nothing for him
